Sandra Christie builds organic forms from copper tube, changing the nature of hard, industrial materials to natural, decorative sculptures for either indoors or garden settings.
The weatherproof copper starts off as a bright orange colour and wears to a dark nut brown which integrates well into both planted areas and hard landscaping.
This newly finished sculpture, called Bryony, stands approximately 1.6 metres high, with a breadth of approximately 80cm. The galvanised bucket again reflects the interest in industrial materials. The copper structure is fixed into concrete, providing stability, and topped with polished pebbles. The leaves are woven with 0.5mm copper wire and add fine detail to the overall form.
